The biological clock of bears living in Shelter ARCTUROS synchronized with the official start of Spring since most of them have awaked from their hibernating sleep.
From March 21, the day on which we entered officially in Spring, the shelter for the Brown Bear in Nimfeo reopened its doors to guests.
Like every year, this year, the first bears that woke up was the two brothers, Manolis and Kyriakos, who are the younger bears. Most of the time outside the nest passes Barbara too, while the other bears are slowly starting to come out of the area who slept during the winter.
The only bear that is still in its nest is Tasoula.
Most bears are lazy and show and the appetite for food has not come back yet, which is normal when waking from hibernation.
From Saturday, March 21, guests are welcomed to visit Arcturos Shelter daily (except Wednesdays) and weekends 10:00-16:30.
(Tour hours: 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 16:30).
Also every weekend and public holidays will be open the other two areas of the Environmental Centre, the Shelter of lupus in Agrapidies Florina (10:00-16:30) and the Information Centre for Bear in Nikios School Nimfeo.
