Like a painting by a virtuoso, Naoussa reflects the freshness of the Cycladic civilization, granting beautiful images to its visitors. It has been characterized by some people as the par excellence destination of the island for a night walk and nightlife, since in its labyrinthine alleys you meet hundreds of groups of people of all ages, as well as famous people. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful small ports of the Aegean Sea, which also has the largest fishing fleet in the Cyclades. In the entrance of Naoussa, one can see the Venetian castle of the 13^th century with its imposing architecture, and walking in the curved, paved alleys one can meet elements of older civilizations, as well as many churches, the most beautiful of which being Agios Nicolaos (Saint Nicholas) in the port.
Moving inwards to the island state one finds out that it maintains its traditional grace, following, however, a course of development. Its market, all along the richest street of shops on the island, also offers confectioneries and eateries. The old and the new are amazingly combined, since in each arch café-bars for all tastes appear. Here, by the sea, small communities for night trips are formed. Around midnight, the famous small bridge above the river at the square of Naoussa, crowded with people, gives the signal, and everyone heads towards the “embroidered small port”, at the point where the warehouses of the fishermen used to be, and where today bars and specialty ouzo bars are located. Here, the entertainment of the island is at a peak and one can make acquaintances. Of course Naoussa is also ideal for evening walks, after swimming in the nearby and more popular beaches of the island, for unforgettable sunsets with sea shell shops and the sea that is decorated with small boats as a background. It is a place full of vitality and energy during the whole summer.
