Dimitsana is the most significant village of Gortinia because of its history, natural beauty and its cultural activity. Dimitsana’s amphitheatrical landscape is remarkable, and so is and the four-plex buildings that are built on the cliff by the Lagkadian masons. Luxuriant vegetation is everywhere and fresh air fills your lungs. Fine cafes, exceptional guest houses and traditional taverns accommodate the travelers’' needs all year round. Wandering around its alleys is a trip in history that rewards one's senses despite the uphill ground. It's worth visiting the library that was founded along with the Krifo Scholio (Secret School) in 1765, designed by Lysandros Kaftantzogloy. For many years, it functioned as a peer school, in which Papaflessas was a student and Paleon Patron Germanos was a tutor. The house of Gregory V, the buildings in which Filiki Eteria's action was staged and its clock of 27 m height, all are quietly whispering their story. At its feet unfolds Loussios Gorge with the Monasteries Prodromou, Emialon and Philosophou, the footbridges, the water mills and its explosive nature.
