The famous Panormos is the seaport of Pyrgos. Built in the arms of a natural bay, Panormos flourished at the time, when the marble and grain trade thrived in the region. Today visitors choose it for its picturesque character, the beach and the numerous restaurants and cafes by the sea. 27 km. from Chora, Panormos being a natural harbor, is protected by the weather, and the harbor hosts boats and small vessels. The beach with the pine forest in the background is ideal for families with children, while quieter options is Agia Thalassa and Kavalourko. Panormos and its beaches overlook the characteristic Planitis Island with the abandoned but picturesque lighthouse. Nearby you will also find the beach Rohari in a more youthful rhythm. A visit to Panormos is required as is ideal for all day long stop.
