Koryschades is one of the most beautiful settlements of Evrytania that consists of stone, well-preserved houses, paved alleys and an unharmed identity that was kept during the years. The name of the village derives from the ancient Greek word “korys” (=helmet) and it is believed that in the location “Kaminia” weapons were manufactured in the ancient times. Several significant events of the Modern Greek history took place in this area. Koryschades were the location not only of the national meeting in the May of 1944 but also of a severe Civil War that nobody in Greece wants to remember. In this village, which brims with people during the weekend, two parallel realities exist: the traditional way of life of the locals and the modern way of life of the visitors. And that is maybe the fact that make the village unique.
