Kalabaka lies under the massifs of Meteora and as a host it greets and accommodates thousands of visitors who arrive at the region either to admire the natural phenomenon of Meteora, to visit the monasteries, to climb on the rocks or to make their way to Aspropotamos villages. Kalabaka itself was known from the antiquity with the name Aiginion. It is worth strolling around the old city and visit the Church Kimiseos tis Theotokou (Assumption of Mary) from the 10th century with its rich decoration. In the city you will find a wide range of choices for accommodation and restaurants.
