On the 28 and 29 of May 2016, ChronoSystems in cooperation with LifeRacing are organizing the «Tinos Challenge» 1st trail running race, an important athletic event for Tinos and the northwestern part of the island.
Participants in the race will have the opportunity to run on the ancient – and more recent - stone paved paths so representative of Tinos! The aim of the organizers is tο showcase the cultural heritage and geographical uniqueness of Tinos, and especially the region of Exomeria.
VERTICAL RACE – 1km Vertical Ascent
On Saturday May 28th at 12:00 in Ysternia bay, the 1st Vertical Race of the Tinos Challenge event will commence! Participants will run a distance of 1km with a 300m elevation and finish at Ysternia village.
20km RACE
On Sunday May 29th at 8:30am in Panormos bay, the 20km Race of the 1st Tinos Challenge event will commence! Participants will start the 20km course at the beach of Panormos and head towards Profitis Ilias at an altitude of 360m. From there, they will head downhill and enter the settlement of Marlas. After passing through the historical village of Pyrgos, they will proceed uphill towards Platia settlement and the chapel of Karabousa, and from there back to Panormos, where the finish line awaits.
5km RACE
On Sunday May 29th at 8:30am in Panormos bay, the 5km Race will commence. Starting at the beach of Panormos, participants will head toward Arpotamata and the traditional village of Pyrgos. After passing the village’s characteristic windmills they will proceed downhill to the finish line in Panormos.
CYCLADES TRAIL CUP
The organizers of the 1st Tinos Challenge Trail Race inform you that the Tinos race is included in the First Cycladic Trail Running Championship, officially named: Cyclades Trail Cup. Athletes who finish the Challenge event will be graded for the Cup. The terms and grading conditions will be announced on the Cup’s official website soon.
