The Emotions Museum of Childhood is an internationally unique interactive museum which uses its exhibits, play and fairytales, in order to encourage children to discover more about themselves and comprehend the world of emotions. Moreover, it sensitizes the adults on subjects which deal with the children’s emotional development. The museum was founded in 2006 on the initiative of Irene Sofianopoulou. It is a Non-Governmental Organization and a member of the international council of children’s museums “HANDS ON INTERNATIONAL”.
Human’s emotional development is of priceless value for his/her path in life. All the activities of the museum are based on the recognition of this value.
By encouraging children to get to know themselves better and to comprehend the world of emotions, the Museum helps them to become creative and blissful adults, with will to live and to face life’s challenges.
The museum is open for visitors every weekend, presenting the interactive exhibition “Hello Mr. Fear!” from 10:00 until 13:00, while from 13:00 until 14:00 you can participate in a workshop addressing to both children and adults!
On weekdays the museum welcomes school groups participating in educational programs.

The Emotions Museum addresses to children, mainly from 6 up to 12 years old, to families, to teachers, to adults accompanying the children (parents, relatives, friends…), to adults interested in the emotional development of children.

Museum activities
Interactive exhibitions: The museum designs and presents interactive exhibitions which encourage self-knowledge and emotion comprehension through play with the exhibits.
Educational Programs: The museum offers educational programs to school groups of children, with specially trained animators, psychologists and educators “giving life” to the exhibition.
Weekends at the museum: The interactive exhibition of the museum is open for both adults and children (4 to 12 years old) to discover it together. Afterwards, they can participate in workshops, which are designed to encourage self-knowledge and communication between adults and children through play.
Annual children’s workshops aiming to encourage self-knowledge and creative children’s expression within the framework of a group, by using story-making, role games, painting, music and exploration “journeys”!
Seminars for adults: Through the seminars, the museum aims to sensitize adults in subjects related to emotional development, using arts and techniques for encouragement.
Exhibits that… travel all around Greece, aiming to meet children living away from Athens and get them in touch with the philosophy of the Emotions Museum.
Christmas’ and Easter’s workshops are organized for the visitors of the museum during the school holidays. The workshops intend to promote a pleasant and creative communication between adults and children.
5-day summer programs: During summer holidays, the museum offers 5-day summer programs which include creative activities for children from 7 to 12 years old.
Birthday parties for children from 6 to 12 years old are a pleasant occasion for the museum to offer a program within its exhibition halls.
The little gift shop of the museum with selected and useful children’s books and unique handmade items of the museum.
