Philippi and Thasos Festival: One of the oldest and most famous festivals in Greece takes place in Kavala Prefecture. A lot of people participate every year and attend musical and theater performances, as well as exhibitions. It takes place every summer in the ancient theater of Thasos and lasts about two months.

“Eleftheria”: Events are organized every year in Kavala city during the last fifteen days of June, including theater, dance and music performances, as well as exhibitions in various spots in the city and mainly in open air spots, as in Eleftheria Square and the city Castle.
Wood Water Wild Festival: The environment has its own special festival in the city of Kavala since 2009. Two days events include various activities, seminars, performances, exhibitions and concerts that many people attend.

Potato Festival: In the village of Lekani every year in early September takes place the Potato Festival with music, dance and of course potato dishes.
Grape Festival: Ten days events take place every year in Elaiochori. These events begin in late August and include music and dance performances, as well as environmental activities. Through these events people want to promote grape and its products.
“Arapides”: In the village of Nikisiani in Paggaio people revive the custom “Arapides” on St. John’s Day. Young people of the village dress up with animal skin, wear bells and wonder around the village, until they end up in the square, where a figurative battle takes place. Then there is a party with traditional music and dance.
Sagia in Nea Karvali (January 5th): It is a big feast held in the square of Nea Karvali. People dance and sing in order to attract good luck. Attend this event on January 5th and you will have the chance to drink cognac and taste the traditional cappadocian delicacy “chosafi”.
Mazidia in Eleftheres (third day of Easter): A traditional feast – prayer to Jesus for a fertile land and a good growing season. Dances, songs, drinks and desserts complete the custom, which has remained untouched and alive with the passage of time.
Pontian Wedding in Zygos (Sunday of St. Thomas): Every year the traditional custom of the representation of a Pontian wedding takes place in Zygos of Kavala, on Sunday of St. Thomas. During this feast of joy and life, the wedding dress and the groom suit are replaced by the traditional costumes from Pontus. The memory and customs of Pontus remain alive through the representation of this joyful event. The attendants have the chance to taste the Pontian food “keskek” and enjoy a special event with Pontian music and dances. Livestock Festival in Platamonas: Every October Platamonas of Kavala hosts a bazaar with local products, like chestnuts, potatoes, cranberries, cheeses etc. A meet soup is offered to the attendants, while endless dance and music events are held and entice everybody.
Chestnut Festival in Palaiochori (end of October): Wine, dance, music and of course chestnuts compose this beautiful festival in Palaiochori Paggaiou of Kavala.
Tsipouro Festival in Nea Peramos (end of October): The visitors of Nea Peramos should definitely taste “tsipouro” (Greek alcoholic beverage) and the famous wine of the area. Olives, fish and many other savories accompany your drink. The attendants also enjoy live traditional music and dance.
