To the west of the island, at an altitude of about 200 meters, you will find Mylopotamos. Its small, picturesque settlement of Kato Chora, has been declared an historic preservation area. Take a break at the taverna or the kafeneio (traditional coffee shop), both located beneath the huge plane trees next to the creek, before or after your visit to the nearby waterfall of the Fonissa (murderess). In the same area, besides the medieval settlement of Kato Chora, one can visit the Venetian castle with its Byzantine chapels and its exquisite view.
