Panagiotis Kastrisios or "Favas" operated the olive press around 1880. In 2005, his descendants renewed and revived the place, trying their best to undo the passage of time.
The olive press works as it did in the past, and in addition to the restored Kythirian house with its authentic household artifacts, you will see a small teaching museum. The museum’s gift shop is a small grocery store in the courtyard of the house. There you can purchase fine local agricultural products, as well as an excellent introductory cookbook that will guide you in their use. On any given day, in the great arch of the café, cultural events take place.
Guided visits to the Olive Press of Favas are available from June until the end of August. Admission is free. Closed on Mondays.
