Pantokratoras is located on the main pedestrian street of the city and is one of the most historic and beautiful churches of Lefkada. The church was founded in 1699/1700 and was built at the request of the citizens of the island in memory of August 6, 1684, a date of liberation from the Turks. In the past it had collapsed from the earthquakes that struck the island, taking its current dimensions in 1830. In the interior and the garden of the temple are buried many prominent Lefkadians, protruding the grave of Aristotle Valaoritis, who is behind the holy step. The temple, the construction of an unknown craftsman, dates back to 1850 and is the first neoclassical temple to be built on the island. The temple is private and opened to the public only 6/8 and 21/5, until recently announced to be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday 18:30-20:30.
