The first temple was founded by monks in 1478. It was called a red (kokkini) church because it was built with local stones and local red clay. The monastery formed on the 16th century, during the Revolution, served as a base for fighters. The temple is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, celebrates on March 25th and 1st of May where the Platystomas club organizes a great festival with traditional dances.
