In one of the most important neoclassical and historical buildings of Lefkada, built in 1890 by the Zulino family, are housed:
• the Public Library of Lefkada (foundation year 1953) and
• On the 1st floor the Collection of post-Byzantine icons and heirlooms of the Ionian art.

The building has formerly housed the National Bank, something you can understand in the library where you can see the bank's cashies. The relics come from the temples and monasteries of Lefkada (eg Agios Dimitrios, Eisodia Theotokou, Panagia Xenon, Monastery of Agion Asomaton etc.) many of whose buildings have been destroyed (eg Agios Antonios) and from private collections.
The icons of the collection are crafted by Heptansian hagiographers such as Jes, Doxaras, Roussos, Patsaras, Ventouras, Gazis and others. They belong to the Ionian School of Hagiography (Byzantine iconography with strong influences from Western European painting). There are also icons of Russian origin.
The collection also includes vestments of 1769, given from Catherine the Great to Bishop Arakleioti and a collection of religious books and other relics of Orthodoxy from the 16th century onwards.
