Chestnut Festival: If you find yourself on the island in November, visit the village of Agiasos to taste the famous chestnuts of the regions. People grill chestnuts on the village square and they give them to the visitors, who can also buy fresh ones or chestnut products. You will also have the chance to wander through the chestnut fields around the village and collect some on your own. In the same time events and speeches take place on the square.
Greek-Turkish Festival of Mytilini: Although it started in 2011 this festival is very successful. It’s a combination of a commercial and a cultural festival. Big companies, associations and cultural unions from Greece and Turkey participate in the festival that take place in Mytilini’s marina.
Street Beach Festival: A festival that wants to combine folk murals with the modern ones, the graffiti. The inspiration for this festival is the local folk painter Theofilos Chatzimichail. Music plays along and everybody gets together under the Aegean sun in the village Vatera in Lesvos.

Festivals also take place on this Greek island too. The most important one is this of the bull. This custom takes place at the end of June or the beginning of July in the villages of Agia Paraskevi and Pigi. This festival is a remain of the 17th century, during which people slaughter a bull and they prepare the traditional “kikesi” that is a dish with meat and wheat, while equestrian competitions take also place.
