Although at first glance the caldera seems ideal for climbing the truth is different. The fragments of volcanic subsoil are not suitable for climbing. However, there are three organized climbing routes at the oldest limestone mountain on the island.
Perivolos: Limestone cliffs with routes to 10-15 meters and their name engraved at the base. Its southeastern orientation is ideal for climbing during the sunny hours and summer days in the afternoon. The climbing days may end with a swim at the nearby beach.
Kamari: Climbing routes on the road to Ancient Thira. Afternoon hours are preferable since the sun is very strong in the summer.
Perissa: In the high rock on the beach there are sign-posted climbing routes. The morning hours are preferable and afterwards you can enjoy the beach of Perissa.
