A seaside settlement at the southwestern part of Sifnos, the development of which is mainly due to its large beach. In front of the settlement with the traditional small houses, the small tavernas and the hotels, lies the large beach of Platis Gialos, which is one of the island’s most crowded beaches. Platis Gialos is also a settlement of potters, and it still maintains some workshops where you can watch the production process and buy some of the famous ceramics of Sifnos. Here, there is also an organized marina for boats. Close by, up the hill, are Panagia tou Vounou, overlooking the whole Aegean Sea and the bay of Platis Gialos, and Aspros Pyrgos. Platis Gialos is 12 kilometers away from Apollonia.
