The Monastery of Zoodohou Pigis or Panagia Kalamiotissa is at the foot of the cliff Kalamos, at the end of the main road. It is built on the site of the ancient temple of Apollo Aigliti (the statue of Apollo Aigliti is now at the British Museum), which was connected with Kasteli through the paved Sacred Way (parts of it still exists). The great festival of the island takes place there on 7^th and 8^th September every year.
