Tsounia: It’s a special custom that takes place in Palaiopoli and Korthi. It’s a traditional game that people play on Easter Day on the streets and it’s similar to bowling.
Traditional Dances Festival: This festival takes place in Andros since 1998. It is organized by the Female Club of Andros, by the Municipality of Andros and by the South Aegean District. This festival is organized in combination with Klidonas custom on the 24th of June and the Female Club present traditional dances and events.
Traditional wedding: The wedding in Andros is happening still in the traditional way. The two families gather at their home where they are treating their guest sweets and orgeat. Then the groom rides a horse and accompanied by his family goes to the bride's house. There the parents of the bride offer as a gift an adorned ram symbolising good luck and then all together accompanied with the sound of traditional music go to the church. After the mystery follows of course a big party.
Chirosfagia: This traditional custom of the island comes from the byzantine times and it takes place in late autumn for three days. On the first day people of the island slaughter pigs and prepare traditional dishes with them. On the second day they prepare traditional sausages and on the third day they organize a small festival with music and dance.
Gavriotika: The biggest port of the island is Gaurio, where every year in the last third of August are organized Gavriotika which last for five days. The event includes sports, games, art exhibitions while the last day takes place a feast where is offered soup and wine.
