Going uphill from Olympia, you will encounter a verdant plateau covered with oak trees. According to mythology, it was named after the Centaur Folos, who resided in Foloi plateau and was a friend of Hercules. The Centaurs were mythical creatures that had the lower body of a horse and the upper body of a man. This beautiful, dense forest, which extends in an area of 71,711 acres, consists mainly of towering oak trees and centenarian trees. The animals that nest therein are foxes, coyotes, badgers, squirrels and hares as well as the rare mammal otter.
