Access

By boat: The island has three harbors: Vathy, Piso Aetos and Frikes. From the two main harbors (Vathy and Piso Aetos) there is an annual timetable with boats to and from Patra and Kefallonia. Moreover, the harbor of Piso Aetos is also connected with Astakos after a 2-hour journey. Patra is 4 hours away and Kefallonia only 1 hour. The third harbor of the island (Frikes) is connected on an annual basis with FIskardo (Kefallonia) and Vasiliki (Lefkada).

By plane: Ithaki does not have an airport. If you are, however, interested in travelling by plane, you can fly up to Kefallonia and then get to Ithaki by boat. Athens is only 30-45 minutes away.
If you have your own helicopter, there is a heliport in Anogi that can accommodate you.

Local transportations

Marinas: In case you have your own boat, there is a marina (2-2,5 meters deep) in the harbor of Vathy but with muddy waters. If you need fuel supplies you must inform in time those in charge. Other marinas that you can use are Frikes, Poli and the beautiful Kioni.
