It is located on the border of Kastoria and Kozani Prefectures and is consisted of Megala Ontria (1,589m), on the side of Kozani and Mikra Ontria (1,530m), on the side of Kastoria. These two highlands are surrounded by impressive natural rocks, that the locals call “zonaria” (“belts” in Greek), forming a natural fortress. Next to the mountain lies a forest of beech and chestnut trees. Apart from the battles that took place during the Greek civil war, the nature seems unspoiled; indeed the human presence on the mountain is negligible.
