Access

By car: The Prefecture of Kilkis, with its capital Kilkis, is located in the north and central Macedonia. The distance from the main Macedonian cities is relatively short and the road network is quite good. In particular, Kilkis is 50km away from Thessaloniki, 100km away from Edessa, 70km away from Serres, 170km away from Kozani and 120km away from Veroia. However, the distance from Athens is quite long, since its 550km.

By bus: Kilkis buses make a lot of itineraries from and to Thessaloniki, other Macedonian cities, other big cities of Greece and of course Athens. For traveling within the prefecture you can also use local buses.

By plane: There isn’t an airport in this prefecture, but its short distance from Thessaloniki allows you to use “Macedonia” airport with continuous flights from Greece and also international ones. From there you can take a bus or your own mean and reach Kilkis.

By train: A train journey is also available, since Kilkis is connected with Athens and Thessaloniki, but also with other cities in between. The journey from Thessaloniki takes about 40 minutes. To reach Athens you must first stop in Thessaloniki and from there with another train reach Athens in about 6 hours.
