Access

By boat: The ferry connection of the island is quite good, since there are daily itineraries available from Piraeus port, while there is also a connection with other ports. In particular, the island has two ports. Mytilini port is connected with the ports of Limnos, Kavala, Thessaloniki, Chios, Samos and Ikaria. The second port, is Sigri and is connected with the ports of Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Samos, Kalymnos, Chios and Kos. Limnos is also connected with Turkey, with the ports of Aivali, Dikeli and Fokaia. The journey from Piraeus lasts around 11 to 13 hours, depending on the itinerary.

By plane: Island’s airport “Odysseas Elytis” is daily connected with Athens and Thessaloniki with an average flight duration of 40 to 50 minutes. There is also connection with the airports of Irakleio, Limnos, Chios, Rhodes and Samos. The airport is 8km south of the city of Mytilini.

Local transportations

For your local transportations on the island you can use public and suburban buses. Public buses connect Mytilini with the suburbs, while the suburban ones connect Mytilini with the island villages. Except from buses, you’ll find a lot of taxis on the island, especially in the touristic spots.

Marinas: If you reach the island with your own boat, there is a well organized marina with 252 spaces that can host you in Mytilini. In the marina there is also the Port Authority, as well as shops for your service.
