Due to its history of volcanic activity, Milos has many hot springs which were known in ancient times for their healing properties. Hippocrates mentioned in his Book E ‘On Epidemics’ the treatment of a well-known Athenian who suffered from a skin disease and had gone to Milos to the Baths of Lakkos. The island has a number of hot springs which differ in temperature and the composition of water.
On the beaches (Alikes, Provatas, Skinopi, Paliochori, Tria Pigadia, Kanava), there are places with hot springs, you will see fumaroles (an opening in or near a volcano, through which hot sulphurous gases emerge) and you can enjoy swimming in warm water the whole year round, absolutely free of charge! Of all the hot springs, the only spa recognized for its importance is the "Lakkos bath" at Adamada.
