In the southwest of the island lies the beautiful fishing village of Aliki, which is famous for quiet, family vacations by the sea. The hills that surround it protect it from the intense winds, and maintain the serenity of the area during most of the seasons. It is a place that makes you forget that you are on a cosmopolitan island, since it is never “overcrowded”. Visitors love it in particular, because it has a complete tourist infrastructure and it is ideal for relaxed walking on the pier with the fishing boats, and watching the endless blue, while drinking coffee or eating octopus in one of the fish tavernas, located near the sea. In addition, the choices for diving are numerous, since the nearby beaches are waiting for you to lie down on the golden sand and to swim in their crystal clear waters. Aliki transmits the way of life of the gentle locals and the selflessness that governs them through the traditional way of life. Thus, before one leaves, attending one of the frequent festivals of the area is a must, as well as the custom of “Kleidonas” on June 23rd, with dancing and feasting on the beach, the fish feast on August 6th, with revelry and traditional music that won’t leave anyone sitting, and even more local events. It will be difficult to part with such a place.
