The original sanctuary, built on a high hill in the north of Parikia overlooking Delos, dates back to the 9th century BC, and was dedicated to the Delian Apollo. In the early 5th century, the monument was enriched with the construction of a Doric marble temple in honor of Artemis (sister of Apollo). Now, only the foundations of the built structures are standing. Reaching the hill might be difficult if you do not know the roads well; however, turning right after Livadia beach and following the signs, you will not have a problem. The magnificent view from the hill is one of the best on the island.
