A growing settlement at the southern Cape of Santorini, Akrotiri is 15 kilometers away from Fira. Like Pyrgos, it is also built on a hill and a castle dominates its summit. Akrotiri offers a great view of the entire caldera. Near the new settlement is the important archaeological site of Akrotiri, where archaeologists have discovered, beneath the volcanic dust, the ancient settlement with significant cultural development. If you want to dive you can choose the well-known Red beach, while a visit to the lighthouse at the edge of the island will compensate you with both the view of the caldera during the day and of the stars during the night.
