Messaria spreads over an area that is surrounded by vineyards. It is located just four kilometers south of Fira. Wander through the old part of the village with narrow streets, traditional cave houses and mansions, witnessing a period when the island had a special glamour. You will find the Argirou Mansion, which was restored after the earthquake of 1956 and now houses a hostel but has also a visiting site with objects, furniture and art of that period. At the square there is also the Markezinis mansion, the mansion Saliverou and the Markezini hosiery manufacturing buildings, though they are not maintained in good condition.
