The museum is housed in a traditional cave house of 1861. The exhibits are displayed in their original positioning. A walk inside the house portrays, in a very natural way, the atmosphere of Santorini in the 19th century. It includes furniture, decorative items, handicrafts, photographs, books and manuscripts. Prominent features are the little room carved in the rocks that was used for guarding the jars with oil and wine, as well as the canava (small, old winery) with wine press and jerk, with which they prepared the vinsanto (traditional sweet wine from sun-dried grapes). In the new part of the museum there is an exhibition of works by famous Greek artists. Visiting hours: Daily May 1st - October 30th.
