Objects of different historic periods of the island are included in the collections of the museum. Findings from the Cypriot-Mycenaean shipwreck (1200 B.C), jars of the early Helladic and classic era, roman and byzantine sculptures, objects of the religious life of the island, post byzantine icons as well as oil and water paintings of ships that took part in the Greek Revolution. Special exhibits are bones of Laskarina Bouboulina, the flag of the Revolution and guns used during the war. The museum is housed in the manor of Chatzigiannis Mexis that dates back to the 18th century.
