You will meet Ysternia or Isternia 23 km from Tinos Town, just a few minutes after Kardiani, in the western part of the island. A village, balcony to the Aegean. Built amphitheatrically on the mountainside of Polemou Kampos, offers spectacular views to Syros, the sea and the Isternia bay, the small seaside settlement, which is the port of the village. Here also the marble is rich, decorating churches, the lintels of the houses, the courtyards and squares, with the local sculptors revealing their talent. Isternia has highlighted great sculptors including A. Soho, L. Soho, L. Lameras and many more. Small alleys lead us to the highest point of the village with views that amaze us. On our walk we also met the Museum of Isternian Artists where the collection includes sculptures of local artists. Here you can also find the Isternian Windmills labeled as listed monuments, which are excellent examples of folk architecture. Isternia offers choices of accommodation but also traditional cafe, restaurants and grocery stores. Here you can enjoy the sunset with the sea being flooded in colors. Do not forget to descend from the old marble path to Ormos Isternion.
