The Marble Museum in Pyrgos of Tinos, the first of its kind in Greece, belongs to the Network of Thematic Technological Museums of Piraeus (PIOP Cultural Group). It is housed in modern facilities, harmonized with the characteristic Tinian landscape. The Museum presents the marble technology, material which has a special place in the architecture and art of Greece from antiquity to the present day, while the instruments, equipment and techniques are described in detail. Tinos was the most important modern Greek marble carving center. The permanent exhibition includes a variety of secular, religious, funerary and everyday original sculptures in marble, clay models and plaster copies, quarrying and marble carving tools, machinery, and the richest collection of old marble sculptors' plans in Greece.
