The Cave of the Lakes lies at an altitude of 800m near the village Kastria on the country road that connects Kalavrita and Klitorias. The speleological research showed that the cave is in fact a subterranean river, 2100m long, which has created three distinct levels. The particular feature of cave, from where it also got its name, are the lakes that have formed inside it. Man-made deposits (cremations, hearths, floor levels, pottery, food remains and tools) indicate habitation of the cave from the Neolithic to the Late Bronze Age. A tunnel, bridges and adequate illumination allow visitors to admire the hidden, underground beauties. Tunnels, underground labyrinths, stalactites and stalagmites found in 1980 meters have been explored, of which only 500 meters are now open to visitors.
