A beautiful gorge that can be crossed by foot, by bike or by train. According to legend, Hercules was the one that cut with a knife the rock in two to reach his beloved Voura. Since then, Vouraikos river is flowing between the rocks of the gorge that starts from the village Zachlorou and descends to the seaside village Diakofto. It is a truly magnificent gorge with the echoing gurgle of the river, lush vegetation, caves and steep rocks. There, in harmony with the landscape, is the cog railway connecting Diakofto and Kalavrita. The gorge is approximately 23km long and can be traversed along the lines of the railway.
