Access

By car: Fthiotida Prefecture with its capital Lamia is located in the District of Central Greece. You will need around two hours to reach Lamia from Athens, since the distance is about 215km. Thessaloniki is about 300km away, i.e. three hours. Larisa is 150km away, Volos 115km and Trikala 120km. Because of the capital’s position almost on the Athens-Thessaloniki National Road, the access is quite easy and the road network is very good.

By plane: There isn’t an airport in the prefecture and the best choice for you would be Athens airport with daily flights from the whole Greece and from the most countries abroad. You can get the bus X93 from the airport to Kifisos Buses and from there reach Fthiotida Prefecture.

By boat: There are itineraries from the prefecture’s ports to Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonisos and north Evoia. These ports are of Agios Konstantinos, of Arkitsa and of Glyfa.

By train: If you prefer a train journey, there are two stations in the prefecture, one in Lamia and one in Lianokladi. The distance from Athens is about three hours long and from Thessaloniki also the same.
