The road leading to the waterfront monastery passes through the gorge Koudouma - a magical ride on rough terrain and steep cliffs. The monastery is built in a cave, but the complex includes hostels, a library, a dining room, a small museum and the monks' cells. Around the monastery there are several caves, which the monks often visit, and open to visitors as well. In the monastery, dedicated to Kimisi of Theotokos (Virgin Mary), you will see icon of Panagias's Dexiokratousa and Ypapantis. It is believed to have been built in the 14th century, but was abandoned due to pirates and restored again in 1870.
