A small islet between Hydra, Spetses and Hermione on the Peloponnese. Archaeological findings suggest that the island was inhabited during the Bronze Age and has seen a great deal of naval activity over the years. Here was discovered the world’s oldest known shipwreck (circa 2500-2000 BC). Today, the island’s few residents live side by side with the ruins of a large Venetian castle, with the Monastery of Agia Efpraxia, and a lighthouse built in 1923. You can have a stroll about the island, or a swim at the famous beach in the northern part. From Hydra, a water taxi or scheduled boat service can take you to Dokos.
