As throughout Greece, so also on Hydra. Easter is celebrated with great reverence, with diverse traditions varying by region. On Good Friday in Hydra, the Procession of the Epitaphios (funeral procession after the crucifixion) enters the sea, before joining in the central port with the Processions of four other churches. Hydriotes also observe the traditional Easter custom of the burning in effigy of Judas Iscariot.
