The Prophet Elias Monastery is a men’s monastery whose story begins in 1813. During the revolution of 1821, Theodoros Kolokotronis and other rebel chieftains took refuge in the monastery. Today you can admire its antique icons, its wooden icon screen, and its library. Within walking distance is the Convent of Agia Evpraxia, dating from 1865. As both sites are carved into the hillside of Eros, the view from either is breathtaking.
