The route starts from the village of Kryovrisi. We arrive at the village and head for the chapel of Agios Georgios and not for the center of Kryovrisi. We leave the car under the platanus. Behind the church there is a spring.
We follow the left dirt road towards the mountain passing under a tall oak tree. For about half an hour we walk on the road till we reach a spot with a visible curve on our left hand. A bit further down there is a stream. We see the curve on the left and we go up the road towards it. From this location we can see the peak of the mountains.
The path that goes up the side has no signs. It is, however, obvious. At the beginning, we walk vertically towards the mountain and then we turn slightly to the right. We reach a wide area with characteristic rocks. From here we head towards the stream in front of us and right beneath the peak. We walk across the stream and continue turning to the right while going up.
Our aim is to reach the rocks that can be seen on the ridge in front of us. On the highest spot of this ridge we will continue ascending while passing from a spot with lots of rocks (cannot be seen when it has snowed).
We follow the ridge towards the peak of the mountain. At the end of the ridge we will have reached a small neck of the woods. Here, there some rocks with dirt and stones as well. On the right we can see a spring and a wide path. We will continue ascending towards the peak. This is the steepest spot of the route. When the temperature is low, the snow freezes as the side has a northeastern orientation.
On reaching the peak we move right following it. After passing from smaller peaks we reach the highest peak of the mountain. Be careful! When the mountain is full of snow, the path cannot be seen. However, the route is quite simple and we can arrange our way to the top on our own.
This route has the hardest snow due to its orientation. During our hiking trip we can see mount Tymfi, Smolikas, Vovousa as well as some of the peaks of Valia Kalda. The lake of Ioannina can only be seen from the peak.
