In this picturesque village the train of Pelion, Mountzouris, ends its journey. At a distance of 28 km from Volos, it appears through luscious olive groves at an altitude of 400 m. The combination of green scenery with the cobblestone-paved streets and the crystal clear springs, it paints a rare picture of harmony and relaxation. You will drink your coffee under the platanus in the square, you will visit the library, the train station built by Evaristo de Chirico, father of the famous painter Giorgio de Chirico. Also with a bit of trekking you can reach the church Agii Taxiarches in the west side of the village, and see the Centaur’s cave where it is said that Centaur Chiron lived.
If your time is limited in order to enjoy the beauty of the village, a ride on the Moutzouris will give you splendid views and a magical trip.
Another advantage of this beautiful village is that it is in almost equal distance from the two seas around Pelion: on the side of the Pagasetic Gulf, at a distance of about 8-10 km you can find the beaches Kala Nera and Boufa, and on the side of the Aegean Sea, on the way to Tsagarada, you will find the pebbled beach Kalamaki and the small Labinou beach.
