Psara, the home of the fearless and brave warriors has a long history. Along with Oinousses it belongs to the district of Chios. A dot on the map on the northwest part of Chios, an Aegean island contributed a lot to the Greek Revolution in 1821 as a bastion of Greece.
Archaeological findings and monuments of this memorable atrocity replaced disaster and death with posthumous fame and pride. Self-sacrifice replaced slavery and today the natural beauty of Psara is strongly advertised, while its history remains alive. Mavri Rachi with the explosion of the powder warehouse, the historical St. Nikolaos, the church of the Assumption of Mary and 68 churches hulk on plains and hills across islets, coves and mysterious seas. Disembark on this glorious Greek island, the laurel-crowned Psara welcomes you.
