An island with a tradition of wine-making since the era of the Minoan civilization could not lack a museum dedicated to its special vineyards. The space of the museum itself is an attraction, since it is hosted in a caved area, eight meters below the surface of the earth. In these shaped rooms the whole procedure of wine-making is presented, such as pruning, harvest, scenes from the life of the wine-maker with the use of effigies, as well as traditional tools and machinery from 1660. The museum includes a huge wine-press that had been brought to the island following an order by King Othon for the production of wine for the palace in 1832, as well as a manual wringer belonging to the French monks in 1660. Visiting hours: Daily December-March 9:30-14:00 except Sunday, April, May, November 10:00-17:00 and June-October daily 10:00-19:00.
