Built in 1200 and renovated in 1852, Agios Georgios is literally located on the rock of Ano Syros, the most beautiful and largest Cathedral of the island. It was built on the ruins of an older Byzantine church, while in its interior you will see rare icons and the portrait of Andreas Kargas, a hero that was hung by the Turks. You will reach the church by going uphill the stone paved steps of Ano Syros.
