It was built in 1900 in order to give hope to the prisoners held in the prison of Syros. In the church you will see many sliver oblations depicting children and babies. According to a religious custom, the pregnant women in Syros go to the church with white ribbons to make a vow to have "kali lefteria" (safe delivery). Afterwards, they take the ribbons with them in the maternity hospital.
