The church of Agios Panteleimonas is located in the center of Thessaloniki, to the west of Rotunda and is yet another World Heritage Site. It was built during the Paleologian period (late 13th-early 14th century) and was turned into a mosque during the Ottoman Empire, like most of Thessaloniki’s churches. Moreover, it is a four-columned cross-in-square with a dome and a narthex also roofed with a dome. It has a rich interior decoration (murals of the 13th and 14th century in the sanctuary) and decorated with plinths and stones on its exterior. The building was initially surrounded by an arcade, which was later destroyed.
