On the northeastern edge of the city, at the beginning of Olympiados Street you will find a beautiful Byzantine church of the late 13^th or early 14^th century. This is Agia Aikaterini, a particularly impressive church both in its interior and its exterior. On its walls made of plinths and stones (rubble masonry), you will detect stone parts of older buildings, while you will observe fantastic murals of the Paleologian era in its interior. This is a four-columned cross-in-square church with a central dome and 4 adjacent ones.
