One of the most important and ancient monuments of the city, Rotunda is still standing after 17 centuries of life. Built in the eastern part of the Old City, Rotunda will impress you with its grandiose shape and its rich history starting in about 300 AD, when it was used as the mausoleum of Galerius or a pagan temple. In the 4th century, the original edifice was converted into a church, while it was used as a mosque during the Ottoman Empire Nowadays, it operates both as a church and a monument open to the public. Although, on the outside, the building seems heavy and hulking, its inside seems lightsome due to its many openings and arcs. After your visit, you can enjoy a glass of wine in one of the many shops surrounding this impressive building.
