Within close distance from Rotunda lies another distinctive monument of Thessaloniki. The Arch of Galerius or else called ‘Kamara’ was built to celebrate the victory of the Roman emperor over the Persians in 296-297 AD. Only its western section is standing today with its impressive bolections divided in four zones. Although it stands on the junction of Via Regia (Egnatia Highway nowadays) with the Sacred Road (Pompiki Odos) and used to be an arcade connecting Rotunda with Galerius’s palace in the past, today it is a meeting point for friends who give life to this 17 centuries old monument.
